Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, organized the Amritotsavam 2016 Cultural Fest which concluded on April 1, 2016. The month long activity involved the conducting of prelims starting from 3rd March and culminating with the finals on 1st April, 2016. With students acting as central coordinators, the event was organized with the help of the department of Students Affairs. Cultural secretaries and joint secretaries of various houses viz., Amritamayi, Chinmayi, Anandamayi and Jyothirmayi, worked with their respective house students and competed in the competitions. Anandamayi House scored the maximum overall points with 224 and Jyothirmayi House with 167 points received the overall winner and runner up trophy respectively.
The Fest was comprised of 34 events in 4 categories such as: fine art, music and dance, literary and theater. More than 1200 students participated in the prelims and qualified for finals. In a new event, 5 staff events were conducted involving up to 70 staff members. Another attraction was a student run food court- Arusuvai. Events like creative writing, poetry writing, sudoku, light vocal solo music had maximum registrations up to 200. Finals were conducted on 31st March and 1st April 2016.
