MICRONet team of Amrita Center for Wireless Networks & Applications (AmritaWNA) conducted a two day practical workshop on ‘Ansys HF package at the Amritapuri campus from July 17-18 July, 2015. The workshop was open to members of faculty and students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham as well as MICRONet partner institutions, namely, Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management Kerala (IIITM-K, Trivandrum) and Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST, Trivandrum).
The Chief Guest, Dr. Elizabeth Sherly, Professor and former Director of IIITM-K inaugurated the event.
The first day sessions included introduction of HFSS to the participants, which was followed by tutorials on designing cavity band filters and optimization of patch antennas. The second day covered topics such as focus shift towards the concepts of impedance matching of log periodic antenna, RCS (Radar Cross Section) simulation and Low Noise Amplifier Design.
In general, the participants felt that the workshop gave them a good exposure to the HFSS software, thus stimulating their interest in Antenna Design. Buoyed by the positive response of the participants, AmritaWNA hopes to conduct larger scale workshops on similar lines in the future.
