A research team from Amrita School of Biotechnology presented posters at the 56th Annual Conference of Association of Microbiologists of India and International Symposium on “Emerging Discoveries in Microbiology” organized jointly by School of Life Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and Association of Microbiologists of India (AMI), Delhi from December 7-10, 2015.
Three research students and two faculty members from Amrita School of Biotechnology participated in the four day symposium which was themed around the topic “Emerging Discoveries in Microbiology”.
Experts from various key areas of microbiology from leading research institutes in India and overseas came together to share and express their thoughts on varying topics like Microbial Genetics, Metagenomics, Microbial Pathogenesis, Environmental Microbiology, Gut Microbiology, and Microbial Resistance.
The poster presentation session saw young researchers from different parts of the country presenting their ideas and inventive works. Among the several abstracts submitted, 940 were accepted and among them five were from Amrita School of Biotechnology. Ajith Madhavan, Sindhu Shetty. Megha Prasad, Amrita Salim, Ugesh K. P. and Amrutha Vijayakumar from Sanitation Biotechnology group at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham presented their work on “Identification and characterization of bacteriophages against enteric pathogens” and “Microbial fuel cells.”
