On July 26th 2016, the State Higher Education Minister of Uttarakhand, Dr. Indira Hridyesh, launched A-VIEW for all the colleges and state universities. She said, “A-VIEW (Amrita Virtual Interactive E-Learning World) software will be given to all 2300 colleges in Uttarakhand, this A-VIEW technology will help in improving the quality of higher education in the state”.
Prof. Nageshwar Rao, the Vice-Chancellor of Uttarakhand Open University, will train the teachers of all colleges in A-VIEW technology. Prof. Pushpesh Pant (Padma Shri) stressed that the curriculum of open universities should be modified to work with online technology. Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Center’s (USERC) Director Prof. Durgesh Pant said that with proper training, the A-VIEW technology can immensely benefit the students in remote areas.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has developed the A-VIEW Technology with support of HRD Ministry under the NMEICT initiative; and it is provided free to all users. Prof. Kamal Bijlani, Director, Amrita E-Learning Research Lab, said, “Using A-VIEW, one teacher can interact online with thousands of learners simultaneously.”
