The women’s Chess team of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, led by Maneesha M., third-year, School of Biotechnology, won the championship and the men’s team of Amritapuri Campus, led by M. S. Sasankan, third-year B.Tech. student in Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, won the runner-up trophy at the Inter Amrita Chess Championship, Coimbatore Campus from September 14-16, 2017.
R. Hrishikesh, second-year B.Tech. student in Electronics and Communication Engineering was awarded the Best Player of the Tournament and Akhila M. A., fourth-year, Department of Chemistry, Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, Amritapuri, was selected for the South Zone Inter-University Chess Tournament held at Saveetha University Chennai, from November 1-4, 2017.
The other members of the women’s team include Meera Ramesh, second-year B.Tech. student in Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus and Ranitha Raj, Amrita School of Ayurveda, Amritapuri.
Vasanth Kumar S., third-year B.Tech. student in Mechanical Engineering; Arjun C., second-year, B.Tech. student in Electronics and Communication; Ajay Kumar, first-year B.Tech. student in Computer Science and Engineering, and Karthick Durai Sivagnanam, third-year B.Tech. student in Mechanical Engineering, are the other members of men’s team.
