Dr. Prema Nedungadi, Research Director at AmritaCREATE, one of the research initiatives of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, was invited as a distinguished panelist at the 10th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV 2017) held at New Delhi, India from March 7-9, 2017. She was invited as the panelist in the Plenary Session- ‘Making Digital India Empowerment a Reality– Policy to Successful Practice: Self-reliant Villages’.
Dr. Prema Nedungadi spoke about Digital Education initiatives such as Amrita RITE in 21 states and urged policymakers to adopt technology for remote monitoring of schools. She elaborated on digital health technologies at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and various departments at Amrita University.
The event, coordinated by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, was chaired by Sri. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Minister of Law & Justice and Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.
UNU-EGOV along with UNESCO was also a collaborator. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was the academic partner of ICEGOV 2017. The conference covered a wide range of issues such as digital empowerment, e-Governance, cyber security, and using of big data.
