A meeting to discuss OLabs was held on 3rd August 2022 at NIOS, Noida with experts from National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and AmritaCREATE.

NIOS was established based on the National Policy on Education 1986 by the Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India. NIOS provides vocational, life enrichment, and community-oriented courses apart from general and academic courses at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels.

The experts from NIOS include Dr. Saroj Sharma, Chairperson, NIOS; Mr. Naveen Bhatia, SA/P, NIOS; Dr. Sandhya Kumar, Deputy Director, Academic, NIOS; and the AmritaCREATE represented by Dr. Prema Nedungadi, Director and Ms. Sreekala P, Project Manager.

The NIOS experts, during the meeting, highlighted the importance of enhancing virtual labs in terms of content and features while keeping the end users in mind. The experts provided suggestions based on NIOS’s experience developing video and text content aligned to their curriculum.

The discussion concluded on a positive note with several actionable inputs that will help strengthen OLabs. The alignment and synergy in the shared vision of developing educational content at scale and making it accessible for all learners was a key takeaway from the meeting.
