Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham’s AI for Good stall at the ITU WTSA-24 Expo in New Delhi emerged as a beacon of innovation, highlighting the university’s focus on leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) for humanitarian impact. The expo, organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), was the first of its kind held in Asia, inaugurated by the honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
Amrita’s stall showcased cutting-edge AI projects developed by its researchers and students, including AI for disaster management, agriculture, education, and healthcare. These solutions, developed in collaboration with the Government of India, the United Nations, and other global organizations, demonstrated the university’s applied approach to AI and social impact. Highlights included interactive demos such as the HaKsh-E robot for social good and the sapling health monitoring system implemented in the Wadi project in Rasol Panchayat, Odisha.
Dr. Christopher Coley and Dr. Nimita Pandey briefed visitors on the university’s work in the Department of Social Data Science and Policy, School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, while discussing Amrita’s publications with UNESCO on equitable access to technology and global tech challenges.
