Doctoral programs at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham are designed to develop outstanding educational researchers with a wide range of research skills as well as in-depth knowledge and practical understanding and expertise in their chosen field of educational research. Eligible candidates shall be provided scholarships and are fully or partially exempted from payment of course fee. The candidate qualifying the entrance test or those who are exempted from entrance test will have to pass Ph.D. course work and other conditions laid down by the University for the award of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Candidates seeking admission can enroll in the Amrita campuses at Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Kochi and Mysuru, if they meet the conditions laid down by the University.

Eligibility for Admission

• PhD in Engineering: The preceding degree may be M. E., M. Tech., M. Sc.
• PhD in Health Sciences: The preceding degree may be M. E., M. Tech., M. Sc., MBBS + 2 yr. diploma, BAMS plus two year diploma, MHA, MPharm, MDS, DNB, M.S. and M.D.
• PhD in Business and Management: The preceding degree may be any Masters degree (with a minimum of two years duration of study)
• PhD in Humanities & Social Sciences: The preceding degree may be M. A., M. Com., M. F. A. and M. S. W.
• PhD in Pure Sciences and Biotechnology: The preceding degree may be in M.E., M. Tech., M.S
