We are happy to announce a groundbreaking collaboration between Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Tamil Nadu Dr J Jayalalithaa Fisheries University. This strategic partnership, formalised with a Memorandum of Understanding recently at the office of the Vice Chancellor of TNJFU, Dr N Felix , has the potential to transform the fisheries sector in Tamil Nadu and beyond.
Cmde R Ravi Sankar (Retd) Addl Director – Academia Industry Partnership, Dr K Venkatasubramanian Associate Prof & Chair ECE and Dr C Ganesh Kumar Asst Prof (ECE) from Chennai campus represented Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham for the event.
By uniting Amrita’s expertise in AI, IoT, and other cutting-edge technologies with TNJ Fisheries University’s deep understanding of fisheries science, we aim to address the critical challenges facing this vital industry. This collaboration will leverage technology to develop innovative, data-driven solutions for the entire fisheries value chain.

Key Emphasis:

  • IoT devices optimizing aquaculture operations
  • Advanced analytics streamlining processing and distribution to reduce waste
  • Net Carbon Zero & Circular Economy Technologies for Advanced Waste Treatment.

This collaboration will foster interdisciplinary research, bringing together scientists, engineers, and fisheries experts. We’re committed to environmental sustainability, integrating waste treatment and recycling into our research agenda. Amrita researchers at Chennai campus have already initiated consultations with Dr Cheryl Antony the Director Research TNJFU and Dr. Jeya Shakila, the Dean and her team at FCRI Ponneri and identified areas that need immediate attention.
