Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR) have joined forces through a momentous Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on March 27, 2024, in Guwahati. This collaboration marks a significant stride towards fostering collaborative research, innovation, and technology development in the North East region of India.
The MoU signing ceremony, which took place at a public event in Assam, saw the participation of distinguished personalities. The event was graced by the Startup and Entrepreneurship Conclave Chief Guest, Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Shri. Praveen Ramdas, Joint National Organising Secretary, Vigyan Bharati and Prof Ashutosh Sharma, President, Indian National Science Academy -INSA, Dr. Ravishakar, Principal, School for Sustaianable Futues and Mr. Renjith Mohan, Program Manager, Live in Labs, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
Representatives from both institutions formalized the agreement as Dr. Maneesha V Ramesh, Provost of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, and Dr. Arun Kumar Sharma, Director General of NECTAR, signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organizations. Dr. Krishna Kumar, Advisor at NECTAR, and Dr. Ravishankar, Principal of Amrita School for Sustainable Futures, exchanged the signed document during the ceremony.
The North East Centre for Technology Application and Reach (NECTAR), an autonomous body under the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, plays a pivotal role in deploying select technologies from public-funded research institutions. Headquartered in Shillong, Meghalaya, NECTAR facilitates the adoption of these technologies, in consultation with state governments, to harness their application potentials effectively.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, renowned for its commitment to sustainable development and innovation, aims to leverage this partnership to expand community-driven programs in the North East. Through collaborative efforts with NECTAR, Amrita seeks to establish self-reliant ecosystems grounded in sustainable development principles.
With the MoU now in effect, both institutions are poised to embark on a journey of collaboration, innovation, and inclusive development, leaving a lasting impact on the technological landscape of North East India.
