In another stellar show of their ingenuity, innovation and independent thinking, the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) students of School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, have won top honours at the “VIVID 2019-Vision Insight and Voices as India goes Digital” 4th National Level Project Contest conducted by the Department of Information Technology, SSN College of Engineering in association with Cognizant Technology Solutions at Chennai.
Eric Joseph, a B. Tech. CSE student of 2016-2020 batch has won the first Prize and cash award for ‘Health Hero’, a Medical app he has developed under the mentorship of Dr. M. Senthilkumar, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Coimbatore. Health Hero is an Android application that allows patients, doctors and pharmacies to digitally connect and communicate with each other in an effective manner. Also, it allows patients to book doctor appointments and order medicines at pharmacies. The app is accompanied by an AWS Lex Chatbot for users to know and order medicines online and an AR (Augmented Reality) mobile app (developed through Unity and Vuforia) for viewing 3D models of medical products and drugs respectively.
Another team consisting of B. Harshavardhini, V. Gayathri and G. Rupa Vidya, from B. Tech. CSE 2018-2022 batch, has also won acclaim for their project titled “Implantable Cardiac Arrest Predictor”, mentored by Dr. M. Senthilkumar.
Apart from these two projects, another path-breaking innovation named ‘Nirmalya’ was also put on show at VIVID 2019 by the students Aswanth Raghavendra, L. Monishraaj and Abishek Vasanthan A. S. from B. Tech. CSE 2018 batch. Mentored by Mr. Sabarish B. A., Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Coimbatore, the project ‘Nirmalya’ is a sustainable initiative to maintain hygiene at restrooms using automation while conserving water and energy.
