Government of India’s Indo-US Science & Technology Forum accepted a proposal for funding submitted on behalf of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and State University of New York, Buffalo in USA for a joint workshop in Cybersecurity. “This work is just the beginning of our collaboration. We hope to have a long-lasting relationship with Amrita in the years to come,” remarked Professor Ram Ramesh, Chair of the Management Science & Systems Department at SUNY Buffalo.
Among the research centers in Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is a National Center in Cybersecurity, with labs in two campuses, Amritapuri and Coimbatore. Secure data handling, trustworthy storage and interchange, verifiable authentication and certification are major issues in almost all organizations today that are heavily dependent on IT enabled services and online information. This Amrita center is engaged in projects to help design effective solutions to such issues. The Coimbatore lab supports the research work of several M Tech and PhD students.
“The Amrita fraternity will gain immensely from interaction with international experts in the field who are expected to participate in the workshop,” said Dr. Venkat Rangan, Vice-Chancellor of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. “We thank Dr. Arabinda Mitra, Forum’s Executive Director, and Dr. Deepak Bhatnagar, TIFAC Advisor. They have always placed great faith in the research activities at Amrita. We thank also SUNY Buffalo for seeking to collaborate with us.” The complete list of participants and the dates of the workshop will be communicated shortly.
