The student teams from the School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, won prizes at the Technology Infusion Grand Challenge (ITGC) of La Trobe University, Melbourne, Australia. The Technology Infusion Grand Challenge is meant for solving pressing social problems and this year’s theme was ‘Smart City Innovation’.
The team named “Yorkers” developed a smart stove that intelligently turns off on its own for safety reasons and can be controlled remotely from anywhere. The team won AUD 600 at the challenge.
The team “Yorkers” consisted of Arun Vignesh (Department of Computer Science and Engineering), Ajith S. (Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering), Sanjai Lal T. S. (Department of Computer Science and Engineering) with their mentor, Prof. Prashant R. Nair (Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore Campus).
The team named “Aqua1” developed an Intelligent Water Supply system that address the complex challenges in urban water systems using AI and IoT. The team won AUD 500 at the challenge.
The team “Aqua1” consisted of Aadhityaa M. (Department of Civil Engineering), Gopikrishnan K. (Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering) and Vejay Karthy (Department of Computer Science and Engineering) guided by Dr. B. Soundharajan (Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore).
