Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham won first prize in the Mime and Debate competition at the 31st Inter University National Youth Festival, “Yuva Shatha Sambhrama – 2016”, held at University of Mysore from 15th–19th February, in collaboration with the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi and Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Government of India. Nearly 70 universities from all over India participated in various events.
Five Zones viz., South Zone (consisting of 99 universities), North Zone (consisting of 96 universities), Central Zone (consisting of 78 universities), West Zone (consisting of 70 universities), and East Zone (consisting of 69 universities) participated in the grand event. Separate zonal competitions were held, from which only the first 2 places in each event were selected for the National level Youth Fest.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham took part in South Zonal Competitions 2016, held at Mangalore University, Mangalgangothri, from January 17th-22nd. Among the 99 competing universities at South Zone, Amrita bagged event wise championships in literary events and theatre events, among five categories which included Music, Theatre, Dance, Fine Arts and Literary. In the South Zone competition, Amrita secured 13 prizes and was qualified for the National Youth Festival in five categories.
