The final year students from the Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs, Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (ECE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, won First Prize and Sponsors’ Best Prize at RoboCon 2018. RoboCon18 is an international robotic design contest, and was held at Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, from August 6-18, 2018.
The team of final year B. Tech. students consisting of Abhijeeth Prem, Sarveswara Reddy, Bhanu Teja P. and Sriniketh K of the Department of Electronics and Communication, School of Engineering, Amritapuri campus, is the first team ever from India in 29 years, since the inception of the event in 1990, to take part in this unique robotic competition. Eleven teams from top universities included Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, India; Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA; Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore; Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiaotong University and Zhejiang Univerity from China; Seoul National University, South Korea; National Polytechnic Institute, Mexico and Chulalongkorn University, Thailand.
The team participated in the 29th edition of RoboCon International Design Contest (IDC) 2018 which was jointly organized by Tokyo Institute of Technology and Tokyo Denki University, Japan. The Tokyo Institute of Technology provided all the lab facilities including mechanical, electrical and electronics labs and the materials, components and equipment required to build the robot.
