The Scorpion team from Humanitarian Technology (HuT) Labs, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus, received an opportunity to participate in the finals of World Robot Summit 2018 to be held in Tokyo in October this year. The team members include Raviteja Geesala, Prasant Kumar Yadav, Nagalla Deepak, Nigam Katta, Vamsi Gontu, Ravikiran P, Ruthvik Chanda Rangiah and Phanindra Kumar Allada, from 2nd year, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri Campus.
The team was selected for their Disaster Rescue Robot called Pariprekshya, named by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi (Amma), Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham. Out of the 250+ teams that submitted the concept document on their robot design, the Scoprion team is one of the teams that got into the finals of Standard Disaster Robotics Challenge under Disaster Category. The team also qualified for a travel grant from the organizers. The team will also be travelling to Germany to attend the Robocup 2018 to be held from April 27-28, 2018.
The World Robot Summit (WRS) is a “Challenge and Expo” that brings together Robot Excellence from around the world, in order to promote a world where robots and humans successfully live and work together. The WRS will feature World Robot Challenge (WRC) where robots will compete with one another and World Robot Expo (WRE) where the latest robotic technologies will be exhibited. Participants from all over the world will come together in one location with the aim of accelerating the R&D and practical implementation of robots, in both the personal and industrial sectors of society.
