Citi Never Sleeps – This tagline introduced in the 1970s, was used by Citibank in all its marketing communications for nearly three decades. The pithy phrase underscored the banking paradigm in the online, digital and connected world.
In 2007, Citibank introduced a new tagline – Let’s get it done – perhaps in keeping with the requirements of the changing times.
In 2007, Citibank reportedly spent $ 451 on brand advertising that incorporated this new slogan.
Such interesting facts popped during the finals of the Business Quiz at the Management Fest Radiance recently conducted by Marian College, Idukki.
Students from colleges all over South India participated. Twenty teams of two members each competed; four teams qualified for the finals.
In the finals, contestants were asked to identify company taglines and logos. In addition, they faced a barrage of business-related questions on several topics.
Amrita students, Rahul K. Ajay and Sinu George, currently in the final trimester of their MBA program at the Amritapuri campus, withstood the barrage, to place second.
They received a cash prize of Rs. 2000 and a merit certificate.
“It was a great experience for both of us,” shared Rahul. “It gave us a chance to be part of a business festival outside our campus.”
“Being part of such a festival gave us the platform to rub shoulders with the best minds from across the country,” said Sinu. “The award boosted our level of confidence also.”
Last year, the duo won the first prize at a business quiz conducted by St John’s College, Panthamthitta. They also participated in a quiz organized by the Economic Times.
Although both Rahul and Sinu expressed an eagerness to participate in many more such events, it will probably be upto their juniors to carry their mantle forward. These second-year students will graduate in about three months.
Rahul will begin work as Section Sales Manager at Khimji Ramdas in Kuwait, while Sinu will relocate to Chennai to become Project Manager at Sundaram Finance Group.
We congratulate the students and wish them all the best!
