In yet another successful demonstration of the innovation ecosystem at Amrita, student teams, ‘Unorthodox Inc’ and ‘Yorkers’ from the School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, have made a mark in international hackathons and secured top ranks. Unorthodox Inc. was ranked in the top 25 out of 10,000 teams worldwide in the 7th edition of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) EngiNX 2019 engineering design & innovation contest. The contest theme was “Digital Eminence -Making Things Smart” and contestants were required to leverage digital technologies, IoT, data analysis and cognitive systems.
Interestingly, an Amrita team won this contest in 2018 and another team is gunning for the top prize this year. On the other hand, Yorkers emerged in the top 20 out of 2000+ teams in Bounce 1.0 Hackathon 2019 held at Bangalore on 3 and 4 August, 2019. The theme by Bounce, India’s first two-wheeler self-ride rental service, was smart urban mobility solutions. Unorthodox team members are Mr. Rajasekar M., Mr. Sudharshan S., Mr. Manojkumar V. K. and Mr. Udhayaakash R., all students of 2017-2021 batch B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE). The Yorkers are Mr. Sanjai Lal T. S., Mr. Arun Vignesh V. G. and Sriraam A. of 2017-2021 batch B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) and Mr. Ajith S. of 2017-2021 batch B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering. Both teams are mentored by Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore .
