The ‘Team Vision’ from the Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, has been ranked among the top 15 out of 1177 teams that participated in N/Core Ideathon at Bangalore on June 23, 2018. The ‘Team Vision’ is one of the 3 teams from Amrita, which won the Smart India Hackathon 2018. Along with IIT and IIIT teams, they were the only student team competing against startups and established players in the social inclusion space.
The Ideathon was organized by N/Core non-profit incubator, Hacker Earth and Omidyar Network, the philanthropic investment company that has provided over a billion dollars for social enterprises. N/Core Ideathon’s objective was to use cases and problem statements faced by marginalized or economically backward communities and invite the most promising ideas and discover disruptive solutions.
Mr. Anupam Rajanish and Ms. Sakthisree Venkatesan, both 2016-2020 batch B.Tech. CSE students and team leads of ‘Team Vision’, pitched for an idea to digitize Indian land records and settlements to aid in solving conflicts and disputes among parties, by implementing decentralized blockchain technology.
Team Vision mentor, Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Vice-Chairman, Department of Computer Science & Engineering (CSE), School of Engineering, Coimbatore campus, said, “N/core Ideathon is an exciting competition very much in line with our university and Chancellor AMMA’s vision to leverage technology for societal benefit. In fact our pitch also showcased our Live-in-Labs® experiential learning program as a readily available test-bed for our university’s student innovations to be deployed for social inclusion.”
