ShaktiCon is a series of programs with a goal to excite, train and support women from all over the globe to develop critical skills in the area of cybersecurity. It features multiple training workshops, talks, seminars and hacking contests spanned over 3 months and is organized by Team Shakti along with the support of team bi0s and Black hoodie.
Team Shakti is a group of female students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham who have joined together for the cause of bringing about a change in the field of cyber-security. Team Shakti works on the principle of team peer mentoring where the senior members mentor the juniors. Founded in 2018 by Prof. Vipin Pavithran, within two years Team Shakti has been renowned as one of the leading women-only CTF teams in India. The club based at the Amritapuri campus is run by the students themselves, with the help of research scholars, alumni, and faculty members.
The focus of the conference is advancing the leadership and professional development of women in the field of security and showcase the next generation of offensive and defensive security technology. While the cybersecurity industry has made progress with gender diversity, there is still a long way to go for women in security. Shakticon opens doors to female researchers and hackers around the world to help in closing the skills gap.
Shakticon started off with a cybersecurity contest open to women across the globe and had 1500+ registrations with 828 teams from 5 continents. Various awards were given to the teams which finished in the top 10 in ShaktiCTF20 sponsored by Pentester Labs and TryHackMe.
Shakticon has multiple phases from beginner to Advanced Cybersecurity Training, introducing participants to Web Security & Exploitation, Assembly, Digital Forensics, Reverse Engineering. Participants enhance their skills by practicing different CTF-challenges from the Traboda Labs platform and get an opportunity to attend 2-day Cybersecurity Conference exclusively for Women, which will feature talks, panel discussions, seminars from eminent security gurus. At the end of the program, a Women-Only Jeopardy-style CTF contest with a set of interesting challenges shall be organized to test the learnings, which can be solved individually or as a team by the participants.
In addition, all the participants will be provided with plenty of resources for learning, including free access to premium learning platforms, practice challenges, videos and write-ups.
