The unique academia-industry collaboration is a strategic initiative aimed at meeting talent requirement for industry-ready data scientists.
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Genpact, a global leader in digitally-powered business process management and services, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an academia-industry collaboration to meet the ever-increasing demand for data scientists, at the institution’s Bengaluru campus. This unique academia-industry collaboration is a strategic initiative aimed at meeting talent requirements for industry-ready data scientists.
Considering the crunch for data scientists and the increasing demand for skilled talent in this domain, a unique analytics program has been designed by Amrita and Genpact. Aimed to develop industry-oriented knowledge and skills in analytics through guest lectures and workshops, both by Amrita faculty members and subject matter experts from Genpact, this collaboration will help students gain thorough knowledge and exposure to real business challenges; and it complements the MS Program in Business Analytics, offered at the Department of Management in Bengaluru campus, by University at Buffalo, State University of New York, as part of the MBA-MS dual-degree program.
The analytics program will provide the students an enhanced experience on tools, business applications and the latest industry trends and expectations. Besides working with experts on solutions to analytics business challenges, students will also get periodic opportunities to visit Genpact offices for gaining insights and exposure to the industry work environment and typical deliverables.
Upon successful completion of this program, students will become eligible for employment in Genpact’s analytics practice. Genpact will also partner with the institution’s faculty to increase overall awareness through industry conferences and best practice seminars, as well as publishing in journals, media and white papers.
“The big data and analytics industry is witnessing a rapid growth in India, placing our nation among top 10 big data analytics markets in the world. With such manifold growth in the sector, there arises a need for large number of data scientists with skilled talent. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham is happy to partner with Genpact to address this issue together, by helping the students in developing their skills in analytics and making them market-ready by providing industry-oriented knowledge,” said Dr. P. Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham.
Genpact and Amrita will also work together on capability development and innovation in the analytics domain by way of additional training and incubation of new ideas in joint research. Bringing academia and industry together to build a larger ecosystem around data-enabled decision-making, this collaboration will help promote youth employability in India through student skill development courses, faculty engagement and support for educational institutions.
“Genpact has been a frontrunner in providing services and grooming talent for analytics services in the industry. This partnership will further differentiate us in building a sustainable talent pool in niche analytics areas. We envision helping young professionals build a deeper appreciation of analytical tools and their application in an increasingly data-driven and technologically-connected world,” said Sudhanshu Singh, SVP and COO, Analytics and Research, Genpact.
