The B. Pharm. program of Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi, got reaccredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for AY 2020-21. The first accreditation was for a period of three years from AY 2017-18 to 2019-20, till June 30, 2020. Though the reaccreditation procedures were initiated on time and the reaccreditation visit was scheduled by NBA, it couldn’t be completed due to the extending Covid 19 crisis. Now the reaccreditation for one year is granted on the basis of the compliance report submitted by the institution.
NBA accreditation is a benchmark of quality of the program and the assessment is based on nine various criteria covering the curriculum, teaching and learning processes, student performance, faculty information and contribution, facilities and technical support, continuous improvement, student support systems, governance and financial resources, etc. Amrita is one of the 4 colleges in Kerala to have an NBA accredited B. Pharm. program. The encouragement and support provided for research at the undergraduate level is one of the major highlights of B. Pharm. at Amrita and this has resulted in Scopus indexed journal publications by many B. Pharm. students which really impressed the NBA expert team during the first accreditation visit.
