The International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) has observed September 25 as World Pharmacist Day every year since 2009. The theme for this year’s World Pharmacist Day was, “Safe and Effective Medicines for All”. On September 25, 2019, students and faculty members of Amrita School of Pharmacy honoured the pharmacists on duty at various departments of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and community pharmacies near the hospital premises with a badge and sweets.
In connection to the celebration on September 30, 2019, Sri. Jayan Philip (Senior Drug Inspector, Asst. Drug Controller Office, Kakkanad) shared his experiences. Amritians Dr. Remya Antony, Research Fellow, AIMS, and Ms. Athira Anilkumar, Junior Pharmacist, AIMS Pharmacy Purchase Department, also shared their views and experience as clinical and hospital pharmacists respectively. The third-year Pharm. D. students showcased a street play on the theme of this year.
