Amrita School of Pharmacy organized Inter-School Badminton Tournament

The Inter-School Badminton Tournament, organized by the Sports Club of Amrita School of Pharmacy, took place from 15th to 18th October 2024, at the Badminton Court of Amrita Health Sciences Campus, Kochi. The event welcomed participants from various institutions of Amrita Kochi Campus, all displaying remarkable talent and commitment.

Dr. Bijo Mathew, Professor of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Amrita School of Pharmacy, inaugurated the tournament with an inspiring address, encouraging participants to embrace sportsmanship and give their best effort throughout the competition.

In the boys’ category, teams from eight institutions of Amrita – including the School of Pharmacy, School of Business, School of Dentistry, School of Allied Health Science, School of Arts and Sciences, School of Medicine, School of Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine, and the College of Nursing – competed in a knockout format. For the girls’ teams, comprising six of these institutions, the tournament followed a league format. Categories included singles, doubles, and reverse singles, allowing participants to showcase both individual skill and team coordination.

The boys’ semi-finals saw the School of Arts and Sciences team triumph over School of Allied Health Sciences, while the School of Medicine emerged victorious against College of Nursing. In the finals, held on 18th October 2024, the School of Arts and Sciences team faced off against School of Medicine in an intense match, with the School of Arts and Sciences team ultimately winning the boys’ championship title. In the girls’ final also the School of Arts and Sciences team excelled, defeating College of Nursing claiming the championship. The final standings awarded the boys’ championship to Amrita School of Arts and Sciences, with the School of Medicine as the runner-up. The School of Arts and Sciences claimed the title for girls also, with the College of Nursing securing the runner-up position.

The matches were closely officiated by a dedicated panel of referees, including Aswin Krishna, Anand Biju, Sravan Sai, Pranav K, and Muhammed Ansari, who ensured fair play and smooth organization throughout the event.

Dr. Rahul Soman, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics, Amrita School of Pharmacy awarded the trophies to the winning teams and praised all participants for their impressive sportsmanship and determination.
