The Department of Pharmaceutics, Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi, conducted a workshop on Application and Troubleshooting in HPLC by Mr. Vishnu N. R., Application Specialist, Spincotech on January 17, 2023 from 10.30 to 4.30 for PG and Ph. D. scholars. Like any analytical method, HPLC can encounter problems that can affect the accuracy and reliability of the results.

Mr. Vishnu started with a presentation that covered the most prominent applications and common issues that can arise during HPLC analysis, such as baseline drift, peak broadening, and retention time shifts. In the subsequent hands-on workshop, he demonstrated the methods to diagnose and fix these issues, such as adjusting the mobile phase composition or column temperature, optimizing the injection volume, or cleaning or replacing the column.

In addition, the resource person of the workshop also introduced the audience to the best practices for maintaining HPLC equipment, such as regularly calibrating and testing instruments, properly storing and handling reagents and samples, and following proper cleaning and maintenance procedures.
