A farewell friendly cricket match, Amrita Mela 2016, was conducted between the two teams of Amrita School of Pharmacy: Pegasus and Phoenix. The Pegasus consisted of the Pharm. D. batches of 2010, 2011 and 2012, Pharm. D. PB students, and the M. Pharm. 2015 students and the Phoenix team was comprised of the Pharm D. and B. Pharm. batches of 2015, 2014 and 2013.
The event started off with a prayer song by the second year students, which was followed by a few words of wisdom by the Principal, Dr. Sabitha M. This was followed by the recognition of the two Indian women, Sakshi Malik and P. V. Sindhu, who made our country proud by winning a bronze and silver medal at the Rio Olympics, 2016.
A group of students, namely Sreejith T. S., Vishnu V. R., Sreejith T. and Siddharth Srivalsan of B. Pharm. 2015, Alex Antony and Sreerag K. Vijayan of B. Pharm. 2013, Vishnu and Bagiyo Baby of Pharm D. 2013 and Sangeet S. of M. Pharm. 2015, who were sent to the Inter College Sports Tournament, were honored. Three students, namely Sangeeth S., Alex Antony and Sreerag K. Vijayan, were praised for their selection into the Institution teams. Siddharth Srivalsan of B. Pharm. 2015, also was acknowledged for his marvelous performance at the swimming competition held at the Inter College Sports Tournament, Ettimadai. He was awarded 3 bronzes and 1 silver medal along with certificates.
After this, all the players of Pegasus were welcomed to the ground with utmost respect by the players of Phoenix, who formed an arch and received them. A toss was made, which favoured Phoenix. They chose to bat first, which left Pegasus for bowling. The winners of the match turned out to be Pegasus, who won by a score of 93 runs with a loss of 5 wickets in 10 overs.
