The Department of Oral Pathology & Microbiology celebrated the National Oral Pathologist’s Day as part of the Nation-wide celebrations to mark the birth anniversary of India’s first Oral Pathologist – Dr. H M Dholakia. Under the aggies of the National Association – the Indian Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologists (IAOMP), National Oral Pathologist’s Day was celebrated at Amrita School of Dentistry on 22nd February with a series of interesting activities involving the students and faculty members. The primary objective of celebrating this event is to promote the awareness about the specialty among the students as well as the general public.
A poster competition was conducted for the BDS students. The theme for the I & II year students was “Odontogenesis- From lab to life” and the topic for Interns was “As is your pathology, so is our practice”. Students participated enthusiastically as teams. Judging was conducted by independent faculty. A fun and knowledge-based activity – “The Pathology Treasure Hunt” was also conducted as part of the event. Department wise teams comprising of interns, PG students and Faculty members participated with excitement and enthusiasm to find out the ultimate hidden treasure using pathology related clues.
In a simple function held at the reception area of the Dental School, the Principal Dr. Balagopal Varma gave away the certificates to the winners of both the events as well as the judges.
