The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, Amrita School of Dentistry added another feather in the cap when an exclusive Oral Pathology Museum was inaugurated on 31st January 2024 at a solemn function organized at the Mini Auditorium, Dental School.
The Museum, contains an exclusive exhibit of hard tissue and soft tissue pathology specimens received in the Department of Oral Pathology since 2006, when the Department started the histopathology services for patient related biopsies from the Dental School as well as the Head & Neck and Craniomaxillofacial Surgery Departments of the AIMS Hospital. The Department is the first in the private sector Dental Institutions in the State to start patient biopsy services in 2006, and now added a new leaf in the annals of the Dental School by setting up a state-of-the art Museum, which is also a first among the Dental Colleges in the State.
Currently housing a collection of around 150 soft tissue pathology specimens and about 200 hard tissue specimens, they have been painstakingly arranged in a display, to enable the students to learn from them. Another unique feature is the QR code available for each specimen of the museum, which will enable the students and viewers to scan the code and see the details of the specimen even after they move away.
