Prof. Raghu Raman from Amrita School of Business was invited for the panel discussion at the 2nd National NCD Summit – Shaping Health Policies in Public Sector Enterprises (PSE) organized by CII-Public Health and Eli Lilly.
Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Former President of India gave the key note address.
Prof. Raman spoke about the emerging role of robust Health Management Information System (HMIS) at PSEs to manage the emerging NCD burden. He shared his experience of deploying country’s first Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System across 33 Govt. Medical hospitals in the state of Maharashtra.
The session was chaired by Prof. Ranjit Roy Chaudhury Chairman, Task Force for Research, Apollo Hospitals Education and Research Foundation (AHERF) with members from Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), McCaan Health.
Some of the participating PSEs included BHEL, ONGC, NTPC, IOCL, Bharat Dynamics, Singareni Colliaries, NGRI, South Central Railways and APSRTC.
This initiative was a first of its kind which was carried out in this scale with an active participation from Government and all the major Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) that have large Health Units and reach out to over 6 million people across different states in India.
