Team bi0s from Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, participated in the 10th edition of NullCon Conference, held at Goa from March 1-3, 2019.
NullCon is one of Asia’s premier information security conference and training platforms for security and privacy practitioners. The event became a platform for the team to showcase their strong CTF skills and their work in respective fields of research.
Team bi0s won first place in the onsite Jeopardy style- Braindead CTF for the second time in a row. The team received a cash prize of INR 30K. 600+ global teams participated in the online qualifier round- HackIm CTF. Team bi0s grabbed the 3rd spot internationally and stood first in the country. The team was awarded 2 free conference passes for the event.
Siddharth Muralee of Semster 6 of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, presented a talk on “Different Approaches to Coverage Guided Fuzzing” in the ‘Vulnerability Research and Fuzzing’ track. He was selected as the only student speaker at the event. Geethna T. K. and Ashwathi Sasi received student scholarship for attending pre-event training on Windows Kernel Exploitation. The training spanned 3 days.
As a part of the other onsite events, Winja CTF, a women-only CTF, was conducted. Team Shakti, girls team of Team bi0s, comprising of second-year students got the first position in the CTF. Team Shakti compromised of Ashwathi Sasi, Ayushi Sharma, D. Nimisha, Geethna T. K., Neelam S. Gurjar, Shruti Dixit and Sowmya Potluri. They were awarded fully sponsored training by SANS worth USD 15000.
