The members of the amFOSS club of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, get selected for the Google Summer of Code program every year, for the last 10 years, and this year was unsurprisingly no different. The club reached new heights this year as Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham now ranks 2 positions higher at No. 7 in the global Google Summer of Code 2019 ranking compared to No. 9 last year, ahead of several premier institutions in India and abroad, and out of the 6586 total universities in the ranking. The club alone has now in total over 50 GSoC Student Developers in the last 10 years.

To achieve this feat, 8 of the club members completed the Google Summer of Code program this year, and out of which 4 were first years in college which also sets amFOSS a new record. It’s to be noted that 8 students were selected from a total of 31,000 applications received for GSoC 2019. Along with these, two of our members – Abhilash G. and Harshith Pabbati were selected as mentors for the GSoC 2019 program for their organizations.
