Amrita Provost spoke at the International Workshop on Women’s Role in Disaster Risk Reduction organized by the National Disaster Management Authority and United Nations Women.

Amrita Provost, Dr. Maneesha Ramesh, was an invited panelist in the 2nd Technical Session ‘Skill & Capacity Building for Women’, held as part of the one-day International Workshop on Women’s Role in Disaster Risk Reduction Landscape: Domestic and Global Perspectives, organized by the National Disaster Management Authority in collaboration with UN Women.

The panelists in the session included Karima Ben Bih, Senior DRM Specialist, GFDRR-World Bank, Ms. Ranjini Mukherjee, Director, CDRI – Research & Capacity Development – CDRI, Ms. Joelle Charboneau, Programme Coordinator, Humanitarian Action, UN Women Asia Pacific Regional Office, Bangkok) and Mr. Imran Majid (Program Director – ADRA India) and a representative from NDRF.

During her address, Dr. Maneesha said “Today, Amrita is working with more than 5000 communities, training them on water sustainability. Women are the ones measuring all the resources in the community, and they are looking into what are the sustainability angles of it.“

The workshop featured prominent national and international experts, including representatives from NDMA, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), and global organizations such as the World Food Programme (WFP), the European Commission, and UN Women.
