Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Chairman, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and Associate Professor – Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, gave a presentation on “Improving Employability of Indian Engineering Graduates” at the 9th World Engineering Education Forum (WEEF) 2019 held at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai on November 14, 2019.
Organized by the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), this prestigious international conclave is one of the largest engineering educators’ conferences world-wide and is being held in India for the first time with past WEEF editions held at Singapore, Buenos Aires, Florence, Seoul and Albuquerque. In his presentation, Prashant showcased the impactful initiatives of Amrita in competitive programming like the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) and experiential learning programs like Live-in-Labs®. Popularly referred to as the ‘Olympics of Collegiate Programming’, Amrita has been organizing the Asia-Pacific semi-finals of ICPC in India, since 2004 and the ICPC Amritapuri site is now the largest ICPC site world-wide in terms of participant numbers.
