AmritaCREATE, the Amrita Center for Research in Analytics & Technologies for Education at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, organized a one-day workshop on Online Labs at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ranchi, Jharkhand, on July 15, 2017. Twenty-seven science teachers from eleven schools participated in the workshop.
Mr. Suresh Dhandapani, staff member of AmritaCREATE, explained Online Labs to the participants. During the demo session, he explained how to perform an experiment in Online Labs virtually. Later on, the participants got the opportunity to explore Online Labs in the computer lab of the school. After the training session, certificates of participation and free OLabs CDs were given to the participants for future reference.
The Online Labs for School Lab Experiments is an educational initiative pioneered by AmritaCREATE in partnership with CDAC, Mumbai under a research grant from the Department of Information Technology, Government of India. The online virtual platform hosts experiments in Physical, Chemical and Biological sciences for students from classes 9 to 12 with content aligned to the NCERT/CBSE curriculum. Recently some Mathematics and English lessons have been added. The website is available to schools upon registration free of cost.
