Dr. Venkat Rangan, Amrita’s Vice-Chancellor, is invited to be part of a high-level delegation representing Indian Universities. The delegation will visit universities in Netherlands and Scotland to explore opportunities for joint PhD and research programs and exchange of faculty.
 

VCThe visit is organized by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
 

The delegation will first travel to Netherlands to hold deliberations with the Association of the Research Universities of Netherlands (VSNU).
 

“India is one of the priority countries for the Dutch research universities, and cooperation between Dutch and Indian universities in education and research is thriving, supported by reciprocal visits,” stated a release on the VSNU website about this upcoming visit.
 

While in Netherlands, the delegation will visit some of the top universities including Eindhoven University of Technology and Erasmus University of Rotterdam.
 

The delegation will next travel to Scotland where a welcome dinner will be hosted in their honor at the residence of the Consul General of India in Edinburgh, the capital city of Scotland.
 

Discussions will be conducted over the following two days with Universities Scotland, the representative body of universities in that nation, together with visits to some of the Scottish universities.
 

European UniverisitiesAn MoU was earlier signed by AIU, VSNU and Universities Scotland to promote mutual cooperation among universities in the respective countries.
 

“We are delighted to be part of this initiative of the AIU,” stated Dr. Venkat Rangan, who will leave today, on this delegation tour to Europe. “We hope to promote several research initiatives between Amrita and leading universities in Europe.”
 

Dr. Venkat will be joined by the Director of IIIT Allahabad and the Deputy Director of IIT Kharagpur among others, on this delegation tour.
 

In her invitation letter to Dr. Venkat, Prof. Beena Shah, Secretary General, AIU, had spoken of Amrita’s high standing among Indian universities.
 

“As the leader of a very premier institution in health sciences, applied sciences, basic sciences, I hope you will join the delegation,” she had written.
 

We wish the delegation good luck as they embark on the five-day Europe tour.
