The Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Branch of Department of Computer Science, School of Arts and Sciences, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Mysuru campus, conducted a Webinar on “Post COVID Era: Prospects and Scope in IT Industry” on June 28, 2020. The focus of the webinar was the current status of the IT industry with special reference to the Covid era. The resource person was Dr. Dinesh R. (Principal Engineer, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Bengaluru), who addressed young technocrats who aspire to join the IT industry.

During a one-hour session, he touched on various aspects such as the current situation, difficulties, challenges and scope of the IT industry. He went on to briefly explain the current demand areas like artificial intelligence, machine learning, IoT, big data analytics, data science, cloud computing and so on. Dr. Dinesh also explained the challenges that the IT industry and other dependent sectors have been facing due to the resurgence of the COVID pandemic.

Ending his talk on a high note, he gave a lot of tips and ideas for improving student skill sets so that they will be placed well in the IT industry. Students also interacted with the resource person and clarified their doubts and took lots of suggestions in improving their careers. More than 150 participants took part in the webinar and their feedback was very appreciative of the efforts by the Mysuru campus in helping them understand the challenges and scope in the IT industry. Dr. Shobha Rani N and Dr. Manohar N from the department of Computer Science, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysuru campus coordinated this event. The webinar was conducted using Microsoft Teams and YouTube Live
