On the occasion of World Mental Health Day on October 10, 2018, Master of Social Work students from Amrita Center for Women’s Empowerment & Gender Equality, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri campus, staged a street play in front of the people gathered at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center and at the old age homes and public schools they visited during their internship with AIMS hospital, Kochi.
This year’s theme of World Mental Health Day is ‘Young People and Mental Health in a Changing World’. The theme of the street play performed by students was mental health issues of the different sections of people and the role of the social worker in improving mental health.
Dr. Devarajan, Officer-in-Charge for Outreach programs, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, conducted an interactive session on National Health Programs on Physical and Mental Health, Epidemiology, Indicators of Health, Incidence and Prevalence, and Hierarchy of Healthcare Service System in India.
