Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Vice-Chairman, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore, attended a National Seminar on ‘Role of Autonomy and Quality Assurance’ at M.O.P Vaishnav College for Women (Autonomous), Chennai, on January 23, 2018. Prof. Prashant R. Nair, Vice- Chairperson and Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Coimbatore campus, was a panelist at the seminar along with Dr. M. Thenmozhi, Professor, Department of Management Studies, IIT Madras, on the topic, “Promoting Research Climate”. The seminar was organized by the M.O.P. Vaishnav College for women, in association with their International Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).
The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. P. Duraisamy, Vice-Chancellor, University of Madras. More than 150 faculty members including principals, vice-principals and IQAC coordinators attended the seminar.
In the panel discussion, Prof.Prashant showcased various curricular and research innovations of Amrita such as Live-in-Labs, International programmes and collaborations, project-based courses and village internship programmes. He explained how these probrammes have contributed to research excellence at Amrita, as well as to its emergence as the only private university in the top ten universities in India in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2017 rankings.
