Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham participated as ‘Partner’ at ‘National Skill & Entrepreneurship Innovation Conclave’ hosted by the ‘Labour & Skills Department, Government of Kerala’, from February 25-26, 2021. The topic of the event was “Employability Skills For The Future- Academia & Industry Partnership”. Dr. Raghu Raman, Director, Amrita IQAC, was the moderator and speakers were K. P. Isaac (Director General, XIME Group of Institutions), Dr. Sujata Shahi (Vice-Chancellor, IILM University), Dr. Tabrez Ahmad (Vice-Chancellor, GD Goenka University) and Dr. D.N.S. Kumar (Vice-Chancellor, Sushant University).
The gap between academia and industry has been a challenge that the government, educational departments, and the academic world is trying to bridge. Universities, in the last few years, have come up with start-up cells, employed manpower to train students in soft skills to make them industry-ready. The knowledge that one acquires in an educational institution needs to help students to get gainful employment.
The aim of the conference was to bring relevant stakeholders together from the skill sector across the country and the world over to find ways to move forward in the right direction. The policymakers, skill development organizations, industry bodies, digital skill empowering organizations, global thought leaders were a part of this conclave. Skilling equipped with an entrepreneurial mindset is the way to move forward to build an effective employment ecosystem and this conclave discussed various aspects of that through various sessions.
