IEEE Power Electronics Society Student Branch Chapter of Amrita School of Engineering, Bengaluru organized a seminar on, “Power System Scenario in India”, on August 5, 2017.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd year B.Tech students of EEE branch students attended the seminar. The event was conducted in two sessions. The first session was a technical talk delivered by Mr. Soumendra Mishra about the power scenario in India and the second session was a quiz competition based on the knowledge gained from the seminar.
The talk started with introductory speech delivered by Mr. Praneeth, Vice Chairman of IEEE PELS, ASE Bangalore. The speaker Mr. Soumendra Mishra gave a technical talk about Conservation of Energy. He commenced his speech by relating the power system with the human body and continued with the full structure of the power system. He gave an overview of power generation and distribution of power in transmission lines. He also shared some interesting and motivating videos related to power system generation and gave an exhaustive insight of the total amount of energy that is being consumed throughout the day. He ended a talk with a marvelous quote, “SAVE ENERGY, SAVE PLANET”.
The second session was a technical quiz regarding power system and power generation. The first prize was won by Mr. B.Balaji Naik (3rd year B.Tech) and the second as third prize was bagged by Mr. C. H. Rushikesh (1st year B.Tech) and Ms. A. Sreeja (1st year B.Tech) respectively. The top three students in the quiz competition were awarded with Certificates on behalf of IEEE PELS.
The event was a grand success and the IEEE PELS student branch chapter members had the support and guidance of IEEE PELS mentor, chairperson and faculty of EEE department.
