Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham had the honor of presenting at the Global Digital Health Forum (GDHF) on December 4th, 2024, held virtually alongside the in-person event in Nairobi, Kenya. GDHF is the leading global public health industry networking and relationship-building opportunity for technology vendors, donors, researchers, government representatives, and implementing organizations working in low- and middle-income countries.

We showcased the abstract titled: “Using Simulation-Based Platform and Virtual Reality for Equitable Access to Critical Care Skill Enhancement: Our Learnings from the Implementation of the DiShA Platform in India.”

DiShA (Digital Shiksha for Advanced Clinical Capacity Building), an innovative simulation-based learning platform developed by Amrita under the USAID-funded RISE initiative, has been a game-changer in critical care training across India. The platform addressed key gaps in healthcare training, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling equitable access to advanced clinical skills.

Dr. Romita Jinachandran, Sr. Project Manager of Health Projects at Amrita CREATE—a research initiative under Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham—presented how technological innovations, robust infrastructure, and strategic partnerships have made DiShA a scalable and adaptable model for healthcare training. Joining the panel were representatives from the USAID RISE project, including Dr. Sithun Kumar Patro, Mr. Srinivas Balusu, and Dr. Abhishek Thakkar from Jhpiego, as well as Sister Oslinda from Goa Medical College and Hospital. The panel highlighted how DiShA has transformed skill development, improved training methodologies, and empowered healthcare professionals to deliver better patient care.

This platform provided a global stage to share Amrita’s vision of leveraging technology for impactful healthcare education, further reinforcing our leadership in innovation and societal benefit.
