Amrita faculty and students received several honors at the recently concluded Annual Cisco Networking Academy Meet in Bangalore. Amrita has Cisco Academies on four of its five campuses — at Amritapuri, Bangalore, Coimbatore and Mysore. Across the Asia Pacific Region, there are over 1200 Academies in 26 countries; representatives from several of these Academies were present at the Annual Meet.
Amrita’s Coimbatore Academy was honored as a Best Regional Academy for training the maximum number of instructors in IT Essential course. It was also feted for the distinction of conducting the first-ever CCNP instructor training course in the entire SAARC region. Amrita’s Bangalore and Amritapuri Academies were recognized among the top five Academies in terms of student enrollment.
Deepa K. R. from the Bangalore Campus was awarded the 1st Runner Up trophy in the ‘Packet Tracer Activity Creation Competition’ held for instructors across the SAARC region. In addition to the Awards Ceremony, the Meet had sessions that focused on emerging trends in the networking industry. Sessions covered E-learning, Cisco’s Webex Collaboration Tools, CCNA Security and NetRiders Skills Competition.
Prior to the Academy Meet, Cisco conducted a CCNA – Tutorial program at Amrita’s Bangalore Campus for most attendees of the Meet. Earlier, three students of the Bangalore Academy, L Arun Kumar, Kartik G. Kinhal and Surya Prakash had won the 2008 Panduit Excellence Scholarship Program Award of a US$1000. The students donated a Linksys-Cisco WRT 160 N Wireless Access Point to the Cisco Lab bought with the prize money.
