Amrita faculty member Sudakshina Bhattacharya (Assistant Professor, Department of English and Humanities, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus) authored a book titled ” The Monsoon Maid and Other Stories” which was released on March 14, 2021 (4.00 PM to 5.00 PM), at Sandeepani Hall, Academic Block II, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus. The book has been published by Subharambh Publication House.
The occasion was graced and blessed by Swami Hararupanandaji of Ramakrishna Math, Coimbatore. The program began with the lighting of the lamp on the dais by Reverend Hararupanandaji and Professor J. Chandrashekhar followed by the Ashram prayer in the invocation of the Divine grace of Mata Amritanandamayi. Sreeja S. of Amrita Vidyalayam, Ettimadai, welcomed Swamiji, the dignitaries and the guests present on the occasion and introduced Swami Hararupanandaji by reading his brief bio-data, after which the Respected Swamiji released the book and felicitated the author on the stage. After the book release, Swamiji was invited to address the gathering. Swami Hararupanandaji spoke at length on his impressions regarding the author and her stories, especially the first story titled The Monsoon Maid. He stated about authors as consciousness that remains forever. The author, Mrs. Sudakshina Bhattacharya then spoke about her journey of storytelling. The highlights of this program were the soulful rendition of the flute by Swami Hararupanandaji and the performance of Mr. Shyamlal on the keyboard. The event came to an end with the vote of thanks rendered by Raghavaditya, a final-year student from the Department of Social Work, followed by the Shanti Mantra.
