Dr. Ullas Mony, Assistant Professor (Molecular Medicine), Center for Nanosciences and Molecular Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, has been selected by the prestigious American Society of Hematology (ASH) to participate as one of 18 hematologists from low and middle income countries in the 2019-2020 ASH Visitor Training Program held at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. Participants will receive up to 12 weeks of specialized hematology training at host institutions in many different parts of the world. After the program, participants will return home to implement their newly acquired skills and knowledge to address a specific need, helping to build hematology capacity and expertise at their respective institutions. This year’s program includes participants from 13 countries who are training at top institutions in the world under the supervision of an ASH member mentor. Their areas of study range from stem cell transplantation to hematologic malignancies and the management of sickle cell disease.
Dr. Mony’s areas of training include Clonality Assessment and Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) Detection by Flow Cytometry of Myeloma Patients. He will be trained in these areas by the prestigious Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA, which is ranked number 1 in the United States for 2019-2020 Best Hospitals Honor Roll.
