Dr. Hisham Ahamed, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Project Lead at the Amrita Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, was an invited speaker at the International HCM Summit VI held from October 27 – 29, 2017, at Boston, USA, as an invited faculty. He spoke on the topic “HCM in the Developing World”. He was the only invited speaker from the South Asian region.
The Amrita Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, is the first and largest Center of Excellence for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) in India dedicated to the diagnosis and management of patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). Dr. Hisham leads the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) Program at Amrita. He brings his rich experience of having been mentored by one of the largest HCM programs in the world, namely the Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Center and Research Institute at Tuft’s Medical Center, Boston (USA).
