The MA Mass Communication students of the Department of Communication, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore campus, organized a photography exhibition, ‘Maanushi 2018’ as part of their elective course ‘Corporate Communication and Event Management’ (Course code: 15CMJ 653) from March 28-31, 2018.

The event provided an excellent platform for students good in photography, especially in wildlife photography. As part of the event, a cave model exhibition hall was designed with the support of students and workers which gave an original ambience of a forest to the audience. The objectives of the exhibition were to provide a bigger platform for Amrita students to bring out their talents in wildlife photography. They were coached on shot composition, framing, background research, aesthetics and other photography techniques and were made aware of the scope of wildlife study.

The students also gained practical exposure in poster making and cartoon drawings through the competitions which were held as part of ‘Maanushi 2018’. Mr. Unnikrishnan, the renowned cartoonist, had a session with the students on ‘Cartoons-Nature and Presentation’. Students were also addressed by popular wildlife photographers in different photography workshops conducted on the same day. The program ended with an exclusive talk show with women leaders from the fields of law, advertisement, teaching and photography.

‘Maanushi 2018’ also organized a food stall with the support of the Food and Nutrition Department run by Dr. Janci Rani. The media partner of the event was Amrita Channel and the video of the event was telecasted in ‘Top 10 News’ of Amrita TV channel on the same day.
