On September 20, 2024, the highly anticipated launch of the new course, “Automotive Systems and Layered Architecture (AUTOSAR), “took place at 2:00 pm. The event began with a prayer, setting a respectful and solemn tone for the occasion. This milestone marks an important step in fostering academic and industry collaboration, equipping students with cutting-edge knowledge in automotive systems.
Dr. S. Balamurugan, Chairperson of the EEE department, delivered the welcome address and provided an overview of the event. Following this, Prof. C. Parameswaran, Principal Director of Corporate & Industry Relations, addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of academic and industry collaborations.
Ms. Latha Chembrakalam, Vice President &Head of the Technical Center in India at Continental, gave her insights on the growing relevance of the automotive sector and the need for courses like this to keep up with industry trends. This was followed by an address from Mr. Sunil Motwani, Country Manager Sales and Services at MathWorks India Pvt Ltd, who emphasized the role of technological tools and simulation in automotive engineering.
Dr. Sasangan Ramanathan, Dean – Academics, spoke on the future of engineering education and how this course aligns with evolving industry demands. Mr. Ganesh Rao, Head of R&D ADAS Engineering from Continental, followed with a detailed address on the innovations in ADAS and Autonomous Mobility.
The official launch of the collaboration document on the AUTOSAR course, “Automotive Systems and Layered Architecture,” took place, marking a milestone in the collaboration between academia and the automotive industry.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. M. Venkatesh Kumar, Course Coordinator & Assistant Professor (Sl. G), Department of EEE. The launch event was successful in bringing together key stakeholders from academia and industry to emphasize the importance of the new course for future engineers.

The objective of the AUTOSAR course is to provide a comprehensive understanding of AUTOSAR architecture, tools, and methodologies for designing automotive software systems. Collaborating with industry leaders like Continental and MathWorks enhances practical learning through real-world applications, fostering skills in model-based design and embedded systems for automotive professionals.

This AUTOSAR-focused program is designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of the framework and methodologies necessary for developing cutting-edge automotive products. The course starts with a comprehensive overview of the automotive domain, including key areas such as vehicle-level systems, embedded systems, and automotive networking. Participants will explore essential communication protocols, which are fundamental to modern vehicle architectures, preparing them for challenges in real-world automotive applications.
The program delves into the AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture) framework, enabling participants to grasp its layered structure, including the application, services, and hardware abstraction layers. Through hands-on experience with the AUTOSAR toolchain, participants will learn to implement applications, generate interfaces, and automate systems using CAPL scripting. They will gain practical skills in port generation, diagnostics, and system automation, which are critical for enhancing vehicle software development efficiency.
