The COVID-19 Cell of Amrita College of Nursing organized an awareness program on “COVID-19” on January 13, 2021, to strengthen the awareness of COVID-19 and its prevention and control among students, teaching and non-teaching staff.
The program started with a prayer, followed by an address by Prof. K. T. Moly, Principal of Amrita College of Nursing. Dr. Dipu T. S. (Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Internal Medicine, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi) also reviewed and mentioned the updates on COVID-19. The next session was on “Infection Prevention and Control Protocols of COVID-19” by Ms. Veena B. (Clinical Nurse Specialist, Infection Control Department, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi). The next session was on “Vaccination of COVID-19” by Dr. Nandita Shashindran (Clinical Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi). The final session was on “Responsibilities of Nursing Students and Faculty” in handling COVID-19 by Ms. Anju Kayathri S. (Lecturer, Amrita College of Nursing), and Ms. Thanooja M. (Lecturer, Amrita College of Nursing).
All the students and staff of Amrita College of Nursing participated in the program. Feedback was collected using Google forms and indicated that 90% of the participants were satisfied with the program. It was an enlightening session to prepare the students and staff for resuming offline teaching and learning activities.
