The students of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Amritapuri Campus, brought honour and laurels to the institution by winning the overall championship of a one day chess competition held at Mar Baselios College of Engineering and Technology, Trivandrum, on 3^rd March, 2018.

Mr. Subramaniam Olappamanna, 3^rd year, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri, and Mr. Arjun .C, 2^nd year, Department of Electronics and Communication, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri, won the 7th and 11th positions respectively and won cash prizes, as well the hearts of the crowd by their fascinating game style. Mr. Hrishikesh, 2^nd year, Department of Electronics and Communication; Mr. Ajay, 1^st year, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri; Mr. Sasankan, 3^rd year, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri; Mr. Vasanth Kumar S., 3^rd year, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri; Abhinav J., 1^st year, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri; and Mr. Sreehari A. S., 1^st year, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Amrita School of Engineering, Amritapuri; competed successfully against strong opponents and secured places amongst the top 20 and thus contributed towards the title win.
